Update 3rd April 2012:
Thought this might be useful for some who may be planning a drive round Mersea before lunch at The Rose on Good Friday.

High tide is timed at 12.44 and will be a high one (5.14) going over the Strood. We intend leaving home at 11.30 to be on the safe side as the tide can start covering the road one hour beforehand and may take a good hour to ebb after high water.

Trust this makes sense.

Hi All,

I shall be taking in everyone's menu selections this morning. As a result may I advise the following?:

1. If you have to cancel your booking, you must contact The Peldon Rose directly to negotiate yourself out of any commitment to pay! It would also help me if you could advise me of your cancellation as well.

2. If you wish to make a late booking, you must contact the pub yourself. I will attach the menu for you to select from. Again, if you are joining us, I would like to be advised if possible.

3. To do either of the above, the telephone number is 01206 735248. You should ask to speak to Dean or Adam and, if you are booking and wish to be so, ask to be included in the Morgan Car Club Group.

Hi All,

I presently have 34 booked for lunch.

If you still want to book (or have yet to give me your menu selections) could you please let me know by the 23rd March. I plan to hand in the full order on the 24th.

For those who may still need it, I attach the menu to choose from. Remember - tea and cakes should be on offer to follow chez nous!

Hi All,

I have now obtained the party menu for our Good Friday meeting.

I will attach the pdf file but, for those who have problems with such attachments, the menu is as follows:

  • Soup of the day
  • Smoked Salmon with beetroot & potato salad
  • Mature cheese & onion tart with piccalilli
  • Chicken liver parfait with cumberland sauce and toast
  • Roast chicken breast on dauphinoise potatoes and sauted greens & Marsala sauce
  • Fillet of haddock in Adnams batter with mushy peas and hand cut chips
  • Sweet & Sour Pork stir fry with egg fried rice and tempura courgettes
  • Griddled Salmon fillet on farfalle pasta in tomato & red pepper sauce with olive tapenade
  • Fillet of Beef on fondant potato with creamed spinach and confit tomatoes (£4 supplement)
  • Wild Mushroom risotto finished with parmesan
  • Vanilla Creme Brulee with shortbread biscuits
  • Chocolate Tart chantilly creme
  • Pineapple upside-down cake with vanilla icecream
  • Lemon semi-freddo with lemon & lime pannacotta
  • Cheeses and biscuits (£2 supplement)
  • Cafetiere coffee
  • 2 courses - £19.50
  • 3 courses - £24.50

No deposit required BUT if you book and I have handed in your order (I anticipate doing this one week before Good Friday) and you need to cancel, it is your responsibility to contact the Peldon Rose to advise the manager and check you do not need to pay for food ordered. If having to do this, please advise me also to try and ensure there are no problems on the day!

I would prefer booking and menu selections by email although a list will be circulated at noggins.
