| Thursday 13th May - Today we strike out westwards on a scenic run to Autun - an important town since Roman times with well preserved archways and the cathedral St. Lazarus..At the roman amphitheatre on the edge of town we can have a picnic (weather permitting) . | |
In Autun we even made print in the local press. Translated literally: "Stop in Eduenne city for English lovers of Morgan!" The Morgan Sports Car Club is an English association based in different centres who gathered the lovers of this type of car so unique which is the Morgan. For the 8th time, approx. 20 of those lovers were passing through France and after Jura, Normandy, Picardie, it is now Bourgogne which had been selected. A dozen of convertible cars had stopped yesterday in Eduenne city, all aligned in an old fashioned way/retro fashions which has seduced passers-by of Autun during a few hours! |
| Friday 14th May
- A whole day in Beaune - visit the Hotel Dieu with its fantastic roof,
and the interior is a must see. This medieval building was still used as
at general hospital until 1971! The son and lumiere in the kitchen is
well worth seeing. The Musee du Bourgogne offers a history of
winemaking. If you not “tasted out” you can visit the Marche aux
vins. We can do a tour of the ramparts by foot or by car and as usual I
will try and organise a display of cars in the town centre
